Vein Removal :: Frequently Asked Questions
What is CoolGlide Excel laser?
The CoolGlide Excel is a revolutionary, FDA approved non-invasive laser which treats unwanted veins. The lasers unique cooling system protects the skin as the light damages the blood vessels. The blood vessels are then absorbed by the body to leave your skin clear of unsightly veins. Most treatments leave virtually no visible disturbance to the surface of your skin; no-one will ever know that you have had the treatment. Your secret to beautiful skin is safe.
How does it work?
The CoolGlide Excel laser treatment combines a cooling delivery tip and an Nd: Yag Laser to give you the optimal results with the least inconvenience. The CoolGlide Excel laser protects the outer skin layer (the epidermis) and sensitive nerve endings with a unique cooling deliver tip. It cools the skin surface before and after the laser is used. The laser is thus allowed to penetrate into the deeper skin layer (the dermis) without damaging the surface layer to treat the blood vessels. Over time the vessels are then absorbed by your body. There are no harsh chemicals. No long recovery times.
Does the CoolGlide Excel laser treatment hurt?
Facial areas around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and chin have minimal discomfort. A slight pin prick is how it’s been described. A topical anesthetic cream can be used on extra sensitive areas or larger leg veins but usually the cooling handpiece numbing effect is sufficient.
What areas of the skin surface can be treated?
Virtually any area of the body can be treated. Some examples are around the nose and eyes, the mouth, cheeks, and chin as well as legs, ankles and thighs.
How long does the treatment take?
The CoolGlide Excel laser treatment is so quick and easy; many patients come in for treatment during their lunch hour. The treatment takes between 15-30 minutes. You can reapply your make-up right away and carry on with your day.
How many treatments are needed and how long does it last?
This depends on the extent of your blood vessel damage that you have already accumulated. The amount of accumulated skin damage depends on your age, your genetic type and the severity of your skin condition. Typically, 2 to 3 treatments may be needed at monthly intervals with gratifying results. Touch up treatments every 6-12 months are usually needed in order to maintain the improvement of the skin.
